Living an overwhelmed and stress-ridden daily life is not the purpose of God. If you have become weary in the grind and are reflecting on or lamenting your lifestyle, let me encourage you: there is a way out. Because crisis and stress typically press us to withdraw emotionally, this is an opportunity to silent our souls and lie at the feet of Jesus.
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him” 1 Peter 5:6–9, ESV
First Peter five tells us that God cares for us and He never meant for us to carry the burdens of life. Remember, God is not watching you with a critical mindset. He is in the grind with you, beckoning you to an abundant life in Him. Yet, unless we acknowledge our limited power and relent control to God, our burden will remain on our shoulders. Notice that to lay down our burden, we have to believe in Jesus and not that He can help us. Check out the video to investigate this further:
This peaceful and abundant life may look just as busy outwardly, but the grace and peace you are living from inwardly is transformational. However, I want to warn you, this grace and peace cannot come from our striving or “self-care.” Instead, it is only sourced from the living waters Himself, Jesus Christ.
For Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ” John 7:37–38, ESV
In this place where your soul is quiet, on the banks of the living waters, there you are refreshed and rejuvenated. It is a daily and momentous living space in which to dwell. Not a quick visit.
Prayer
Dear Christian, I pray you come to the riverside and sit at the feet of the one who cares for you. That He speaks to your soul and quiets your life so that all you see is your beloved, and in that gaze, you find the strength to cast your burdens.
Don’t Know Jesus and want to?
Pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe your word in Acts 2:21, which says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Therefore, I call to You and ask You, Jesus, to come into my heart and be Lord of my whole life. I believe You died for me on the cross, rose from the dead, and are now ascended in heaven. I believe you are coming back again. I ask you to forgive my sins and cleanse me with Your precious blood. I receive you as my Savior, and I am Yours forever. I will seek You and serve You all the days of my life. Amen.
